Service-Learning Faculty Award Nomination Form
Each year, this award recognizes one faculty and/or teaching staff member who have demonstrated exemplary integration of academic service-learning in their courses. With purposeful use of critical reflection, these faculty and/or staff members and their students meet an identified community needs through an academically relevant service-learning experience to gain further understanding of course content, a broader appreciation of the discipline, and an enhanced sense of personal values and civic responsibility.
The award winner will be honored at the Honor the Best ceremony in May with a plaque and award check of $500, less applicable taxes.
Qualifications
- Must be an academic or administrative faculty, LOA, or contingent faculty on appointment with the University of Nevada, Reno.
- Has taught a designated service-learning course.
- A nominee must demonstrate:
- Demonstrated exemplary, and often innovative, integration of academic service-learning in their courses.
- Demonstrated reciprocity with community partners.
- Using critical reflection, nominees and their students met community-identified needs through an academically relevant service-learning experience to:
- gain further understanding of course content,
- a broader appreciation of the discipline, and
- an enhanced sense of personal values and civic responsibility.
Selection Criteria
The assessment and selection of nominees will involve consideration of meeting the qualifications.
